Pakistani MMA fighter wins Gold medal in Asian Championship

Pakistani MMA fighter Bano Butt secured a gold medal in the Asian Championship 2024 by defeating Gulnaz Abdrakhmanova in the atomweight division. The 20-year-old fighter from Pakistan defeated India’s Khushboo Nishad in the semi-final via split decision and then went on to win the final via unanimous decision.

The Asian Championship was conducted in Lahore, Pakistan where more than 100 fighters took part in the event. The five-day MMA event was conducted by The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF). Bano Butt is an upcoming MMA star from Pakistan and she made her country proud at a young age on the world stage. Bano became the first Pakistani to win a gold medal in IMMAF.

Pakistan team won a total of six medals in the Asian Championship, After Bano’s gold medal it was Eman Khan’s show as she won another gold medal for Pakistan in the Asian Championship. She defeated Kazakhstan’s Dinara Ayapova in the finals in the women’s flyweight division.

In addition to Pakistan’s two gold medals, they secured four bronze medals at the different divisions. Bushra Akhtar, Zulqarnain Khan, Asghar Khan, Abdul Sami, Taimur Chishty and Muhammad Aroz Saleem Baig all secured bronze medals in the women’s strawweight division, senior men’s middleweight division, senior men’s flyweight division, junior men’s middleweight division, junior men’s welterweight division and junior men’s featherweight division respectively.
