After a prolonged fight against cancer, Pakistani-American Top Chef contestant Fatima Ali died Friday.
In October 2018, Ali, who moved to New York at the age of 18, was diagnosed with cancer after being first declared free from cancer.
Ali, 29, who was voted “fan favorite “in Top Chef ‘s last season, revealed that doctors told her that she only had one year to live. In 2017 she was diagnosed with Ewing ‘s Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer of the bone.
In November, Ali appeared at The Ellen DeGeneres show, where she talked about her dreams of traveling around the world and eating in her favorite places.
At the end of the interview, DeGeneres surprised Ali with a $50,000 check from Shutterfly to make sure she had all she wanted.
Ali’s Top Chef co-stars have set up a GoFundMe page to support her travel and her final wishes will be donated to the Sarcoma Foundation of America with any funds she doesn’t use.
