Social activist Sarah Gandapur recently spoke about the rights of animals in our society at Lahore Press Club.
Talking to the media, she eloquently and passionately spoke the specific issues that plague animals in Pakistan, like the orders to kill natural stray dogs.
she said that the issue of breeding wild and exotic animals like lions and tigers by rich people is unethical and dangerous. Mistreatment of horses and donkeys when it comes to labour and transport, and of course hunting for sport should be banned.
She further stressed how Islam puts a lot of importance on the protection and safety of animals.
she ended saying : “A crime against animals truly is a crime against humanity. We are not supposed to harm or hunt animals for sport. We need to be kind to them and respect their territory. The protection of wild life is also important to sustain the environment. Any change in animals means consequences for the land and people.”
We need to begin to think responsibly and be more aware of our ecological environmental.
