A Friday report by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) revealed that at least five pilots of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) did not even hold a certificate of registration.
According to details, a case concerning fake degrees of PIA pilots was heard in the Lahore registry of the apex court by a Supreme Court bench under the management of the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Main Saqib Nisar.
During the course of the proceedings, a report was submitted to the court by the CAA, in which it was pointed out that degrees of seven pilots were found to be false, whereas five pilots had not even passed their matriculation exams.
The Top Judge, appalled by the CAA report, said that people’s lives were at stake. ” A person with a less than matric qualification is not even allowed to drive a bus, but aircraft are flown here, ” Justice Ijaz Ahsan remarked.
The PIA representative informed the bank that 50 pilots who could not provide their academic records had so far been sacked by the national flag carrier administration.
PIA was allowed to appoint pilots on a contractual basis, but the court requested full details of the licenses of its pilots.
