KARACHI: After heavy rain struck various sections of Karachi, Geo News revealed Sunday, at least 12 people died in various incidents.
Heavy rain with thunderstorm lashed Defence, Clifton, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Malir, Gulshan, Landhi, Shah Latif Town, Korangi, Soldier Bazar, Manghopir, Nazimabad, New Karachi, Surjani Town and other areas.
At least 12 people died of electrocution and other incidents in various fields during the rain, according to TV report. Three individuals lost their life because of electrocution in DHA’s Khayaban-e-Shahbaz.
Nearly all main streets were flooded with rainwater while low-lying regions of the town were submerged because of constant heavy showers.
City authorities have told people to stay away from the energy poles and stay indoors during the rain.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah visited Korangi causeway earlier today where he supervised a rescue operation to retrieve stranded commuters.
